Hi, I consume 2 oz of nuts in the morning, and do not consume much more fat on any other meals or snacks during the rest of hte day. Is that a problem do you think? I also do 45min cardio every day in the morning.

I eat smoked almonds 5 times a week. Have them for lunch gives so much energy for the afternoon. Love almonds!

For the past 3 weeks I've been eating raw almonds, I really love them, but I think I'm eating too much. I'm sure I eat more than 1 oz a day. I'm trying to lose weight. Is 24 count the right amount to eat or should I cut back to 12?

July 26, 2009

How healthy are almonds and other nuts now that they are being "pasteurized" to prevent Salmonella poisoning? I understand there are three different methods used, which are irradiation, heating, and gassing (with some chemical, I do not remember the name). Irradiation scares me, I'm afraid heating will denature the proteins and negatively affect the fatty acids, and gassing with a chemical doesn't thrill me either. Do you know anything about the impact any of these methods have on the nutrients and therefore healthy benefits of nuts?
