As life takes us along for a ride and we get engrossed in getting stuff done for others, we sometimes need to stop and think over what it is we are giving ourselves in the process. If constant worry and unmanageable stress is all you came up with for an answer and if you feel you have absolutely no control over the demons that keep you from getting fit, then this just-in-time-for-Halloween piece that exhorts you to exorcise your fitness demons might be just the ticket for you!
For example, do you think yourself sick about sticking to that fiendish diet while all around you your friends are savoring the sinful delights of the festive season? Face that devil today by keeping cheat days on which the occasional indulgence is magically pardoned and all is well again in the land of I-Conquered-Temptation-By-Succumbing.
Another devil I can think of that should be on the list? The fear of the so-called “bad” foods that might really be beneficial to us. The sure-fire exorcism for this kind of ignorance is simply a dedication to get educated in at least the basics of nutrition. Still think olive-oils and nuts are bad because they are too fatty? Think again - monounsaturated fats, which these foods are full of, have been shown to have wonderful heart-disease-reducing properties by way of bad-cholesterol reduction and have even been shown to offer some protection against certain forms of cancer. Still believe that low-fat foods are OK? You should really be looking at total calories too. Remember, Knowledge Is Power against food prejudice and will help you know what to put in your grocery cart the next time you are out shopping for your family’s nutrition.
