eyesIf you thought a “Fitness Mantra Recommended” diet of fresh fruits, green vegetables, nuts and eggs were only good for your body, then have I got some eye-opening news for you: they are great for your eyes too!

Sight-Savers, A Mail-Online article, lists the foods that can keep our eyes healthy and what do you know: regular readers of this and other blogs that propound minimally-processed foods are sure to already be eating loads of them:

Nutrients such as Vitamin C, omega-3 oils and key plant molecules are so important that you really can eat your way to better vision, says leading eye researcher Professor Ian Grierson, Head of Ophthalmology at the University of Liverpool.

Most eye-problems including serious ones like cataract and glaucoma are apparently affected by the foods we eat (another thing I learned today!). The best things to eat for healthy eyes? Greens like spinach and broccoli, dark berries like blue- and black-berries, eggs and nuts/seeds.
