During the course of a normal news day, the most popular news-sites, that I frequently use to draw inspiration from, have about 5-7 new stories a day. Of these, many are either drug-industry, disease or medical-science related, while typically just 1 or 2 are general-health and fitness (the niche of this blog) related.
When I see really interesting articles that I feel I can add on to, I make it a point to publish them here with some added comments and even resources for additional information so you can explore it some more if you feel like, but many times there are other news-stories I might not be able to highlight, but which still make for some excellent reading.
del.icio.us
For those not familiar with it, del.icio.us is a so-called “social bookmarking” website where users bookmark sites of interest and “tag” or “label” them into categories like “fitness”, “finance” and “technology”. Other users can then look for recently tagged sites/articles under these categories and even subscribe to an individual user’s links. You can get more detailed help about using the features of del.icio.us from their help page. I have started to use this service for Fitness Mantra by linking to the most pertinent news stories so you can always be updated with themall even if I don’t spotlight any of them on the main blog site.
Fitness Mantra links for del.icio.us:
Over by the right, you should see my recently tagged articles on del.icio.us (the box titled “my del.icio.us”) and this will automagically update as I add new, interesting stories that specifically relate to the topics you frequently encounter on on this site.
There are three ways you can keep in touch with the latest in fitness from news sites and the blogosphere in general:
- Visit the Fitness Mantra homepage at any time to see the updated links on the right.
- The Fitness Mantra del.icio.us page has links and descriptions (and you can also see what other blogs have linked to the same stories.
- A better way would be to directly subscribe to the FitnessMantra del.icio.us feed (you might need to need to enter this feed URL in your feedreader).
I will continue to highlight the best health and fitness-related news articles on the Fitness Mantra site, but with the del.icio.us links feature, you can get a firsthand look at all the articles I look at beforehand.
Be healthy!
