So, what will it take to get a person to start taking fitness more seriously and lose some weight? Sure, friends and relatives could convince him or companies could tie compensation with health levels. But it looks like only one person can really make a convincing argument that will grab our attention like no other: The Grim Reaper.

Oh yes, the fear of death can motivate people to do extraordinary things and in the case of UK resident Colin Corfield, it made him lose over half his body weight! Clocking in at about 55 stone (770 lb!), Colin was already suffering from multiple health-related problems like sleep apnoea (inability to breathe while asleep). But he finally had to take some action:

Although it was pretty risky operation, he still went ahead with it and after a very strict diet, he is now “down” to 16 stone (224 lb).

I guess, just saying things like “increased risk of heart-related problems” or “increased chances of contracting type-2 diabetes” are not enough to motivate people. What they need is the Grim Reaper’s knock of doom on their doors.
